The Polynesian Panthers Voiceover

LI: To create a 3D image that depicts a moment in time.

This is my voiceover about the Polynesian Panthers and the Dawn Raids, the Dawn Raids seems to be stated as the most racist act towards Pacific people and has been going around since 1974-1979. Since then, the Polynesian Panthers were formed and structured as allies and a team, protesting against the corruption from that year of time.

I found this activity really enjoyable because we get to research about world from all around the world. (alongside the dioramas that are based off the chosen events we have  picked.)

AI Movie Day/Night

LI: To understand how the time moves.

For this task, we learnt how the time changes from time to time. This first step is to show how the sun and moon shifts the Earth from morning to night with the use of PixVerse.ai. One part of Earth facing the sun makes us face daytime, whilst the other half faces nighttime, as the moon on the opposite side of the sun makes the others face the dark. This pattern continues on and on without stopping, which is called the alternation of day and night. Our Earth spins around from both sides at a time (with the help of its axis) In order for our planet to make a full circle, it was estimated to be about 24 hours to make its full spin.

I enjoyed this activity because we get to learn the process of how the day and night shifts across different places.

Ancient Time Telling – Sundial/Clepsydra/Hourglass

LI: To explore how our ancestors measured time

For this task, we were gathered into a group of three, and was seperated to do three different task for each person. The options were; Sundial, Clepsydra, and Hourglass. As you can see, the Google Vid shown on the top of the paragraph explains each of every detail for the clocks that carries on with our voiceovers. An interesting fact I learnt about the Sundial is that it can only work on sunny days and not at nighttime nor cloudy weathers.

I found this activity interesting because we get to learn more about the clocks from the past.

AI Movie

LI: To use our knowledge about dinosaurs in creative ways

This is create challenge 2, the sources of the dinosaur AI movie I made is from hailuoai AI. Prompts are very important to use, which was also used to make the AI movie about the Stegosaurus and its natural habitat, this activity was very fun to do with my working buddy, but there was some mistakes made like for an example, not using prompts. That problem was fixed after realizing our mistakes and made the movie how it was in the video!

I enjoyed these challenges because I get to see the results of the animation after putting the prompts!

Trip to Auckland War Memorial Museum

For this activity, LS2 went to the musuem in order for us to finish our topic about volcanoes. When we entered the room for the topic, what each of us saw was a volcano themed room. One activity during that time was the backpack challenge, these were the items; toys, can of food, hole punch, torch, can opener, pan, gloves, a cat, muesli bar, cat food, goggles, bottle of water, tea towel, first aid kit, mask, colouring book and of course a backpack. We were split into two different teams and had 30 seconds to put all the things we required before the countdown ends. (For those items that are not in need, we leave them where they are and they stay.) After the end of the countdown the instructor will check our backpacks and what we put inside. Something I found interesting in the classroom time was that a lava bomb gets shot out in the air and starts spinning rapidly, making it twist and turn which does makes sense since it also soft.

Aside from that were the galleries, everyone took a walk around and saw some interesting things discovered in the museum, in sight were bones and skulls of animals, some of them nearly extinct and some gone, especially birds and other types of species which I found really interesting. The other gallery was the WW2 section, what I saw were old clothes and videos taken from the war, the audios revealed out from the clips show that it was not a good time to be living during the war alongside the explosions that could be heard from inside the television, videos have also proven enough how terrifying WW2 can be, and to think the people there had barely any place to rest for even a bit can be tiring and brutal.

Fossil Eggs

LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils

For this activity, my pair and I unboxed a fossil egg using clay. Inside the clay is a dinosaur fossil (The dinosaur we found will be taken care of and made sure it’s not lost.) After discovering our fossil, we used AI and Adobe Express to filter our dinosaur fossil and the picture in black and white as if we had discovered it in the 19th century pretending we were palaeontologists! The skeleton we found was a Stegosaurus and and a fact we found interesting about it was that it is the dumbest dinosaur according to researchers.

This task was fun because my partner and I worked together to discover a secret dinosaur inside an egg.

Paired Research Challenge

LI: to research questions about your dinosaur including their habitat, diet, predators, and protection.

For this activity, our challenge was to create a DLO about that explains the dinosaur inside the dinosaur egg. From inside the egg, my partner and I found a skeleton of a Stegosaurus, an interesting fact we learnt from the skeleton we found, was that it has sharp spikes located in its tail so that it could prevent itself from danger.

Something I found interesting was that the Stegosaurus is the dumbest dinosaur according to researches.

Fossils

LI: To understand how scientists know so much about dinosaurs.

LI: To recognise different types of fossils and how they are formed.

For this learning, we worked in pairs and tried to research each different fossil types. After searching for the information each of us inquired, we use google draw to put all the information in the text altogether, structing an explanation of different types of fossils.

Something I found interesting was the whole Petrified fossils process of becoming stone. It turns into a rock because the organic matter is fully replaced by some minerals leading it to the idea of becoming stone.

Mary Anning

LI: To create a DLO that tells Mary Annings story from her perspective story.

For this topic of learning, we made a DLO about Mary Anning as a group of 3. We used two links to search information about her and how she ended up becoming a Paleontologist. Anning was one of the best fossil hunters out there during her own era, she was born in May 21 1799, who lived through until March 9 1847 at the age of 47.

Something I learnt was that she was the first Paleontologist to complete a whole plesiosaur skeleton.

Paleontologis – 50 Word Sentence

LI: to understand how scientists know so much about dinosaurs.

LI: To recognise different types of fossils and how they are formed.

For this activity, we made a 50 word sentence DLO using Google Draw. Each person in our group shared their thinking to each other and combine them altogether to make the 50 word sentence about Paleontologists.

What I found interesting about this activity is how the scientists use Rock Hammers and chisels to review the form of the fossils!

I enjoyed this activity because we get to share our ideas together as a group.
